Rag Quilt

This is the denim / flannel rag quilt I made for my niece for Christmas.  Each square is 6" making the while quilt 4' x 6'6", nice single bed sized.

Although you cannot see very well from the picture, there are 2 pockets in the denim, on the 3rd row from the top and the 3rd row from the bottom.

First Quilts

These are the first 2 quilts I made.

The squares came from ebay so not sure what make, the sashing is moda marbles and the border is thimbleberries. I backed and bound the quilts with blue marbled fleece so there is no batting. All machine pieced and quilted. I'm quite pleased to say these were my first attempts. Lots of help for my friendly quilting expert SJ :D

Again squares from ebay so not sure on manufacturer or designer. Everything else is the same as the first quilt.

Ye Olde Schoole

This is one of my current projects. Well it will be in a couple of years time when it is finished. It will be a hand sewn paper pieced quilt using 4cm hexagons and old clothes.

So far I have the remnants of 2 mens shirts, 2 boys shirts, a boys bandana and an old nightie, all cut up into 2 1/4" squares.

I've made myself this little travel kit using one of the Bodyform tins. It fits about 30 squares of fabric and paper hexagons, a couple of needles, a thread bobbin, a very handly little thread cutter and a broken needle threader.

This is a really handy little tin, it fits nicely in my handbag so if I'm sat around waiting I can sit and sew a hexagon or two.

One thing to remember. If you are sewing whilst driving, well travelling, obviously not actually driving, be prepared to jab yourself in the thumb. A lot!

Teddy's Quilt

Here is a 12" square quilt I made for Teddy.

Well actually I made it to practice my free motion quilting hence the 'thrown together' top, just scraps from my fabric box, but I thought Teddy might appreciate some bedding more his size.

There was definitely an issue with tension, sometimes the top thread was looping through at the bottom. Not sure if that was something to do with the speed of my quilting as sometimes it was fine and others not, all without making any changes to tension settings. Will have to practice some more and have a chat with my, font of all things quilting, friend.

Baby Quilt

This is the 3rd quilt I have ever made, all baby quilts so far. The quilt is made from moda flannels. I didn't realise how stretchy flannel is and how much harder than regular quilting cotton it is to work. Still, I'm happy with the end result, even if it is not very square!
